Machu Picchu
The ruins of Machu Picchu, rediscovered in 1911, by Yale archaeologist Hiram Bingham, are one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. While the Incan people certainly used the Andean mountain top erecting many hundreds of stone structures, from the early 1400s, legends and myths indicate that Machu Picchu (meaning ‘Old Peak’ in the Quechua language) was revered as a sacred place from a far earlier time.
Machu Picchu seems to have been utilized by the Incas as a secret ceremonial city.

Let the Adventure Begin!
Some people say that the best way to rediscover your true self and freedom is to travel as much and as widely as you can. Why is this? What happens when we move that makes us feel freer and happier?
It has to do with the unknown! When we go, especially in countries with a culture very different from the culture we were brought up and see new places and faces, when everything is brand new, the mind stops. Nothing is the way we are used to be, so the mind can not follow its usual patterns and habitual behavior.
This adventure is a spiritual one as much as an external one! The essence of this trip is for you to overcome any fear that you might have at any level, spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, to gain back your power and finally set yourself free!
In the midst of coming back home to yourself, have fun, and meet new friends!
The Trip will be guided by Spiritual Teacher, Shaman & Healer Northern Deer Alexander, founder of the WORLD OF WISDOM & SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE community.
He will help each of you get the most out of the experience, and will guide you on a journey to awakening your true essence.
The trip includes daily practices to awaken the inherent part of our inner selves which is who we truly are!

From here we then have around a 7km walk downhill on an alternative Inca trail, with the option to stop at some hidden waterfalls along the way. It will take us approximately 3 hours to complete the trail
We then drive 1 hour to Ollantaytambo and up the Patacancha valley to reach the Inca fort of Pumamarca high above the valley floor. This was considered to be a military control point for getting to Ollantaytambo and also has a wonderful space for meditating or circle where we will make a small ritual offering to the spirits for our Journey.
We then walk back down into the Patacancha valley with a 1.5 hour descent directly into Ollantaytambo town.
Elevation drop is 3450m – 2800m (distance is around 6km)

Ollantaytambo-Inti-punku (Sun gate)-Ollantaytambo
FULL-DAY TREK:
7-8 HOURS (9.5K) 6 miles,
2800m-3900m-2800m
After we have been served breakfast we will head up the trail leaving from the other side of town, following the Urubamba river.
Today will be a much tougher hike - It is the Day of Our Highest Intetnion, expressing it through this Pilgrimage that will finish with Shamanic Ritual, but you will now be more adjusted and acclimatized.
The ascent is around 8.5 km one way. It takes usually 4.5-5 hours one way and 3.5 hours back down.
On the way up we will pass by the Inca Quarries (Cacchicata) where they extracted large stones in order to build the nearby temple of Ollantaytambo.
This was an on-going project, in the middle of process by the time the Spanish invaded, therefore you can find many large blocks of rock that were partly sculpted - known as the ´tired´ stones (around 90 of them), which were planned to be brought to Ollantaytambo to extend further constructions but abandoned due to the Spanish take-over.
At the summit you will reach the "Sun Gate" or Inti Punku. Strategically placed for sunrise alignments, especially during solstices and important Inca ceremonies. It has a trapezoidal gateway, and considered as a spiritual monument for ancient priest rituals at 3900m and aligns directly with the sacred mountain Veronica (Apu Veronica) the highest in the Cordillera Urubamba range at 5893m - We will perform a powerful Shamanic Ritual connecting us with the Sun and Its powerful Allies spirits - this Ritual provides connection with the energy that brings success and very big inner power to achieve our life dreams. To go there one has to have a strong and High intention in order to be blessed from the Highest Spirits.
Dinner can be taken early as we can take an early sleep and be ready for the next mornings early start.

The organic coffee plantations still use traditional methods to toast and grind the coffee beans.
After lunch, a walk uphill of around 700m and 3 hours takes you through beautiful garden-like scenery. We will then continue through the coffee plantations where they also cultivate bananas and “granadilla” a member of the passion fruit family, yucca and avocados.

Here there are some Inka Tambos (Small resthouses) known by the name Llactapata.
Llactapata was supposedly an Inka site or religious temple with incredible energies. We try to appreciate this remarkable site and view point to Machu Picchu by getting there when there are no groups and it will be peaceful. We then descend with another 30 minutes to our simple lodges but incredible viewpoint that offer what is hopefully an amazing panoramic for both the sunset and sunrise.
